ADVICE FROM THE PROS

We asked professionals across the board for their best piece of advice. Here’s what they said:

“The two greatest tools for wellness are sleep and social connection. Quality sleep provides our brain and body the resources to not only thrive in our day to day, but also perform more demanding tasks at a high level. Social connection provides meaning to our lives as well as safety to take risks and support when we inevitably struggle. Both are a top priority.”

“Reframe your “failures” as “something that didn’t work,” or “wasn’t the best use of your strengths.” You will learn more from these experiences than from the ones in which you shined. These experiences, even though possibly painful, will teach you more about what you want more of, less of and never again, than consistently hitting it out of the park. Be bold, be brave- and don’t be afraid to suck, then move on!”

Career Strategist & Coach

“Sport is a mirror of life. We talk about sacrifice, dedication, commitment, hard work, but it is the constant self reflections on the details in order to learn, improve and evolve. It’s about what you are doing when no one is watching. Defer the instant gratification. Prioritize long term goals vs. shorter term rewards. Be patient with yourself and your growth, as we all run our own race. Good things take time. There is really no destination in growth; it is the infinite game. Your path will have many ups, downs, twists and turns and that is why staying even is key. Never get too high on the highs and never getting to low on the lows. Remembering set backs are so important to further progress. Everything will work out exactly the way it is supposed to, regards of how and when you may want it to. Lets your faith in your journey be stronger than your fears, doubts or opinions of other. Most of all, enjoy the journey; that is where the magic is!”
